Resonance
What is Resonance
A resonance happens when a single coin's order book signal and the whole market's order book signal turn strong in the same hour. Resonances tend to arrive in groups and form a wave; the wave ends only when the market's signal fades.
Resonance is built from two CoinKarma indicators, both updated every hour (see LIQ):
LIQ: each coin's own order book imbalance index, reflecting changes on the buy and sell sides of that coin's order book
Overall LIQ: the market-cap-weighted version for the whole market. It moves closely with BTC and can be read as the market's order book signal
In the same hour, when a coin's LIQ is 3 or above and Overall LIQ is 2 or above, that coin resonates.
Why look at the coin and the market together
LIQ alone can turn strong because of changes in one coin's own order book; Overall LIQ alone tells you the market is strong but not which coins are leading. Resonance stacks both conditions and answers three questions:

How a wave works
Resonance covers 23 major coins: BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, BNB, DOGE, ADA, TRX, LINK, AVAX, DOT, LTC, BCH, SUI, HYPE, UNI, AAVE, NEAR, GRAM, ATOM, APT, ARB, OP. A newly listed coin is included once it has 60 full days of data.

How to read Resonance
The page and the notifications always show one of three states:
Resonating
A wave is on, Overall LIQ ≥ 2
New coins can join at any time
Continuing
A wave is on, Overall LIQ between 0 and 2
The wave is not over; new coins just don't join for now. Once Overall LIQ is back at 2 or above, coins join again
Waiting
The last wave has ended (Overall LIQ fell below 0) and there is no new wave yet
Waiting for the next resonance
● Continuing does not mean over
Within a wave, Overall LIQ often moves back and forth around 2. Across all waves, only about half of a wave's time is spent Resonating; the other half is Continuing. A wave ends only when Overall LIQ falls below 0.
● Resonance price and end price
The resonance price is the close of the 1-hour candle in which the coin resonated; the end price is the close of the 1-hour candle in which the wave ended. Times on the page and in the notifications are Taiwan time (UTC+8) and refer to the candle's close.
● LIQ and Overall LIQ values
The page shows each coin's LIQ and Overall LIQ at the moment it resonated, plus the latest Overall LIQ, updated every hour.
● A new wave right after one ends
After Overall LIQ falls below 0, it can climb back to 2 or above within a few hours and produce new resonances. That is a new wave, not a continuation of the last one, and you get a new "Resonance started" message.

Sent when Overall LIQ falls below 0: when the wave started, how long it lasted, how many coins it had, and each coin's resonance price and end price
Pinned status
The first line is the current state (Resonating, Continuing, Waiting) and the number of coins; it also shows when the wave started, how long it has run, Overall LIQ, and each coin's LIQ and resonance price
Coins that join more than 24 hours after the start are not announced, but they appear in the pinned status and on the website
Switching between Resonating and Continuing sends no notification; only a wave's start and end make a sound

● Coins in this wave
Each coin's resonance time, LIQ and Overall LIQ at the moment it resonated, resonance price and current price, in the order they joined.

4-hour candles for the last 30 days with the hours that met the resonance condition marked, and every past resonance of the coin.
● Past waves
Each wave's start and end time, length and number of coins; expand a wave to see each coin's resonance price and end price.
Historical Review
The data runs from October 2022 to September 2026 across the 23 major coins:
About 3.5 waves per month
The median wave lasts about 1.4 days: about 40% last less than a day, and about 10% last more than 7 days
The median wave has 11 coins, about 9 of which join within 24 hours of the start

Resonance ended
The wave lasted 3 days and 12 hours. Overall LIQ crossed 2 more than ten times along the way, so the state switched between Resonating and Continuing many times, but only the start and end messages made a sound.
Conclusion: Limitations of Resonance
Resonance records the time and price at which a coin's signal and the market's signal lined up. The change shown on the page is the current price against the resonance price, not the result of actual fills.
Same use case as LIQ: LIQ and Overall LIQ are ranging-market indicators, and their signals lose effectiveness when the market turns into a one-way trend; Resonance does too
Only 23 major coins: a coin outside the list does not count even if its LIQ is 3 or above, and a new coin needs 60 full days of data before it is included
Hourly updates: Resonance is judged on the close of each 1-hour candle, so by the time it appears on the page or in a message, that candle has already closed
Late joiners are not announced: coins that join more than 24 hours after the start appear only in the pinned status and on the website, so notifications alone will miss them
For single-coin entries and exits, pair it with the LIQ series; when the market turns into a trend, refer to Long/Short Filter for stop-loss conditions.
